    • Synopsis
    • HOW TO SAVE A DEAD FRIEND is a daring first-person documentary that tells a Russian millennial’s story of love and loss against the backdrop of a society in rapid transition. In 2005 Marusya is sixteen and a depressed Russian teenager. She is quite sure this year will be her last. But then Marusya meets Kimi, and everything changes. They fall in love, become soul mates, and get married. Together for ten years, always high on both love and drugs, they share everything: euphoria and anxiety, happiness and misery. But things change once again, and sometimes love is just not enough to save your beloved. Kimi is gone. Marusya transforms her grief into creativity. The film emerges as her decade-long intimate telling of a story of unconditional love that captures the spirit of a generation of Russian youth.
