    • Synopsis
    • KAORU passed away suddenly.

Just as she was to be recognized and lauded for her talents as a screenwriter, she is killed in an accident. Eccentric and elusive, for better and for worse, KAORU had a gift of attracting people, just as much as she was gifted in letting them go from her life, but not to everyone's satisfaction.

In her last will and testament, KAORU nominates her ex-husband, JUN Yokotani, to serve as the mourner and host of her funeral. Though surprised by the sudden news of her death and the nomination, he visits the small village where KAORU was born, driven by a sense of nostalgia for her. However, the small village is full of quirky characters with their own complicated feelings for KAORU and circumstances around their own lives.

A middle-aged woman who is fanatically attached to KAORU and is filled with grief.
A young wife who does not fit in with her small community and is under increasing stress.
An elderly screenwriter who is deeply jealous of KAORU's success.
And KAORU's young daughter, also named Kaoru, whose father is unknown.

It would almost seem as if KAORU had foreseen her own death and scripted the emotionally chaotic funeral as well as its cast of characters herself.

They say that everyone is the main character in his or her own life, just as everyone inevitably plays a role in someone else's life....

As the pitch-black comedy plays out and simmers, another turning point brings about even more chaos - was this funeral itself a script written by KAORU? Will KAORU's funeral be successfully completed, and will the characters find their happy endings? And what message did KAORU want to convey in the finale of her own life?
