    • Synopsis
    • The film takes place in Kyoto in 1974. The narrator is a first-year student at an all-boys Buddhist school. While the narrator idolizes Bob Dylan and passionately writes his own songs, he trudges through his daily, dull, ordinary life. One day he is invited to go to an island of “free sex,” and suddenly his summer begins to sparkle. He travels to the island with a fellow Liberal Arts-oriented friend. But what lies in store?
Shikisoku Zenereishon, truly a landmark novel portraying adolescence is a warmly told coming-of-age story, imbued with a unique brand of humor. Japanese subculture master Jun Miura tells a semiautobiographical tale of his deep love of Buddhist sculpture and Bob Dylan, while relentlessly pursuing his own identity. The same two artistic geniuses who created the classic Japanese rock opera film, Aiden & Titi (“idenity”) that rang chords with vast numbers of Japanese youth now bring us another story that uses tears and laughter to weave a tale of teen angst, anguish, and obtainable courage.
