- Synopsis
- When ten thousand Boer guerrillas invade British held territory, Baden-Powell's untrained, covert army of twelve hundred is surrounded and contained in Mafeking. Both sides dig in.
  
  In this crucible of fear, Sarah Wilson annoys B-P at every turn. Her unlikely friendship with Solomon Plaatje, a native Baralong, can only bring trouble. Against a backdrop of military action and civil depravation, their nine months together will change the world.
