Josh is an online app reviewer and video blogger who does a weekly segment of himself downloading, testing and reviewing apps for his mobile. His newest assignment is an app, i-Lived, that promises to change his life. The first tasks the app requires Josh to do seem pretty mundane, working out, eating healthy, and being polite to strangers. The app starts advising him on how to get a hot girl, how to get a better job, basically how to have a better life. Josh is slowly becoming addicted to the app and recommends to his friends and family. The popularity of i-Lived expands.

Eventually, the tasks required from Josh to keep his newfound life become harder, more dangerous, and even violent. He plays along and enjoys the feeling of being bad; he hits a stranger, he steals money… until the app finally tests Josh’s resolve by asking him to “kidnap someone”.

Terrifying, fast-paced and timely, the film is a remarkably potent mixture of classic genre sensibilities and biting commentary on our increasing dependence on technology.
