    • Synopsis
    • Valentine and Jean-Claude form a new couple at the beginning of the civil war and massacres which swept through Rwanda in 1994. Living in Kigali, these young parents multiply the attempts to flee the killings with their newborn. This animated short film takes a tender, yet lucid, look at the short odyssey of a young family confronted with the worst and the best of humanity. Following the family's exodus, in the early days of the genocide and the Rwandan civil war, we will contemplate the couple's thoughts and their son's vision. Ibuka, Justice is the story of two young adults who learn to live and then survive together in a historical disaster filled with violence and uncertainty, but also courage and kindness. A poetic documentary on a historical drama experienced through the intimacy and formation of a young family forever united. This tale of memories and fortunate misadventure, told by survivors and directed by their son, offers a new and authentic cinematic perspective on the Rwandan tragedy.
