    • Synopsis
    • Six American geology students and their professor travel to a desolate part of Iceland to conduct their term project. They stay in an old cabin in an unearthly area of a valley, despite the stern warnings from the locals to stay away. Mysterious things soon begin to happen. At first the group explains them away, but gradually they realize the anomalies have the fingerprint of Iceland’s mythical “Hidden People” – creatures even capable of possessing people. Something goes terribly wrong during the first expedition. PATRICK’S (23) carabiner breaks and sends him crashing to the ground. The gang scrambles for help but none of their gear or communication equipment will work – the sat phone is down and the car won’t start. The professor, HAROLD (65), becomes worried. He seems to recognize what’s happening, but doesn’t let it on to the others. The students re-group in the cabin. Curious for answers, they find them in a book on Icelandic mythology, which speaks of a protective rune guarding from evil spirits – the same rune that hangs over the cabin doorway. Feeling safe inside, they stabilize Patrick and wait out the night. The next morning the rune is destroyed. Accusations fly but no solid conviction can be made until STEVE (21) plays them footage from his hidden camera, showing JOHN (26) defacing the rune. But John has no recollection of doing so. The only thing standing between the students and the horror outside now destroyed, the Hidden People begin picking them off one by one. All hell breaks loose between the students, and Harold makes a desperate move for peace, explaining the true purpose of their project: to prepare for the construction of a dam, which would flood the valley. That’s what incurred the wrath of the Hidden People, ERIN (23) realizes. She and LUCAS (23) decide they have to do all they can to stop the dam project from moving forward. To do that, they have to find Harold, but he’s missing. Erin, Lucas, and Steve, the only students left alive, search and find him in a cave arming dynamite, making a desperate attempt to end the Hidden People once and for all. Erin and Lucas discover why: Harold lost his lover to the invisible creatures forty years ago, and now he’s exacting revenge. Erin and Lucas abandon Harold to his mad devices and return to the cabin. There they find Steve has rigged an EMF detector to broadcast a radio signal. Two locals answer their call for help, and as they wait for them to arrive, Lucas starts acting strange and makes love to Erin in an animalistic fit of passion, madly possessed. The locals arrive, but Lucas turns on them and the last battle for survival ensues. Erin is the only one to make it out alive and flees in the locals’ truck. Erin recuperates in the hospital. Traumatized, she can’t discuss anything that happened to her. The doctors look over her charts and talk amongst themselves. She seems to be making a full recovery, but there’s one more thing – she’s pregnant.
