Thirty-three years after the fall of communism and one hundred years after the founding of the Romanian Communist Party, three young independent filmmakers set out to make their feature film debut with a film about an invisible enemy, the radioactive cloud of 1986.

- Synopsis
- Although the artistic team of the film Clouds of Chernobyl was born after the 1989 revolution, they tell with humor and sincerity the story of a family from a village in communist Romania affected by the Chernobyl nuclear accident.
  FREEDOM IS THE ONLY OPTION!
  This motto also represents the protagonist of the film, Irina, who is an intellectual woman trapped in a world dominated by fear. Irina can be a Laocoon with a female face. During the film the pain of the body and the strength of the soul, both in their intensity, are equally distributed and balanced in the whole composition of the creature, so that at the end of the film she decides to accept the freedom of the woman, of wife and of mother. Through this tragic comparison between the past and the present, in which the death and the birth of a woman (as a concept) occurs in a dramatic way, the film “Clouds of Chernobyl” wants to lead the heroine through a successive journey through hellish circles, through catastrophes that are chained together: one disappears only to give way to another , and the latter is called the fall of communism and the birth of freedom.
