    • Synopsis
    • In April 1985, Marco Lopez entered the field of law with a mission to represent victims of social injustice, but he soon grew weary of the mire of fender-bender litigation. Then, one day, a headline in the Los Angeles Times catches his eye: 'U.S. Agent Fires into Mexico, Wounds Boy.'

Intrigued, Marco reads that Humberto Carrillo, a 12-year-old boy from Tijuana, was shot in the back with a .357 Magnum by a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Remembering his own childhood experiences at the border, Marco feels compelled to seek out the boy and immediately sets out in pursuit of the case.

Marco contacts Humberto's mother, Maria Elena, and she retains him for the case of Humberto Carrillo v. United States of America. Marco seizes the challenge, but it isn't long before both he and the Carrillos become targets of underhanded intimidation and subterfuge by U.S. and Mexican agents.
