    • Synopsis
    • Antonia Pozzi writes secretly, not knowing that she is destined to become one of the major Italian poets of the 20th century. We meet a sixteen-year-old girl in 1920s Milan, in the high school she attends, the Manzoni; she looks like an ordinary girl, but her gaze investigates the world around her with an intimate and raw intensity. Starting from an impossible love with her former high school professor, we witness her passions, inspirations, torments, and how they all transform from reality to the poetic — in her face, in her body, in the photographs she takes, and the pages she writes. From the Milan bourgeois apartment of her parents to the streets of the city, to the villa at Pasturo, to the summit of a mountain that we see her climb, and in the course of the ten years we experience with her, we meet the people who touched her most deeply or hurt her the greatest: lovers, friends, professors, strangers. Some of them are close to her, but Antonia is on that fine, tense, line between art and life. She goes beyond it, and writes: “Now you accept you’re a poet.” These were to be the last ten years of her life.
