    • Synopsis
    • Eliseo (Eli), age 10, and his older brother, Nico, always dreamed of an alien abduction that would take them away, cure Nico of his terminal illness, and maybe even grant them super human powers along the way. While his brother is too sick to partake in their imaginative play, Eliseo summons life above earth by yelling “ Take My Brother Away!” Eliseo's call is answered when he meets Dr. Xavier Baumann, a self-exiled doctor living in the Philippines. Eli is convinced Xavier is an alien in disguise, which only makes Eliseo certain that if he wants to save his brother, he must travel with Xavier to the U.S. to undergo a bone marrow procedure for his brother (since they don’t have the technology in provincial Philippines).
Hope is enlivened through imagination when the ’ship' has arrived, a plane to the U.S. or as Eliseo calls it, "American Space". In the U.S. Eliseo shares his trip with Nico through recording his recollections about the experience of “American Space” like postcards from Space a way to “phone home”. From this, we see America for the first time through the lens of a little ‘alien visitor’.

      __
Meanwhile, revealed is Xavier’s past tragedy of losing their son who was the same age as Eliseo sharing his love for Space. Just when Eliseo is excited and is at the height of his hope, a tragic typhoon hits the village in which he is from. Xavier decides to keep this from him, and preserve hope. This is a story of a young boy’s need to save his brother driving him to make a better world for everyone around him, including the kids at the hospital he meets, turning death and grief into a hopeful space adventure.

This is a universal story of one child’s belief in aliens restoring one man’s faith as the two intersect on the playful side of grief and loss.
