    • Synopsis
    • At the end of 1942, one year after the creation of the Theresienstadt concentration camp, the German army ordered the shooting of a documentary film (Kulturfilm) within the ghetto.

The reasons for the project are still poorly understood. The film is now considered lost; and the project details remain uncertain including whether the film was completed or not. Lutz Becker, a subject-matter expert, said, however, that he attended a screening of the fully completed film, organized in Prague shortly after the war ended. What happened to this footage is also unknown.

In 1994, three reels shot in Theresienstadt during the production of the film, were discovered in Warsaw, at the Polish National Cinematheque. Another fragment is kept in the National Film Archives in Prague. Eva Strusková, a specialist in the Terezin films, estimates that some 7,500 meters of film or some 5 hours, were shot. Only 4 minutes have been found.
