    • Synopsis
    • In 2017, on the 100th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution, there was no official act
held in Russia. The central government decided to confine the memory of the
Revolution to the innocuous environment of museums. In this climate of forgetfulness,
some scenes detached from reality bring the past to the present. Two young “roofers”,
Nikita and Karl, explore the city, looking for historical remains, specific places, climbing
on the rooftops. As they wander, they come across abandoned buildings and balconies.
Katya, a woman who looks older, travels one of the capital spaces of the revolutionary
process: the Field of Mars, in Saint Petersburg. Katya tells about the February
Revolution, the one that put an end to the Romanov dynasty. The victims are buried on
the Field of Mars; Katya knows this because she witnessed their funeral. She recalls the
post-revolutionary period and brings back the figure of one of the most interesting
intellectuals and scientists of the time: Aleksander Bogdanov, author of a utopian
science fiction book: The Red Star. The voice-over of a woman links all the stories and
she becomes another character that evokes a lost idea, the idea of the future.
