    • Synopsis
    • Exiled in Montreal, alone, for years, Mamita returns to Peru, to her slum of Laderas de Chillón. She was able to free herself for a short week in order to attend her daughter Mari's imminent wedding. She returns for the same reason why she left; to take care of her loved ones. She distributes toys and school supplies to the children of her village who are in need, gives money from her hard work in Canada to her family and community. She works hard at preparing the wedding, for days on end, alongside the women of her village. The celebrations are short-lived. She is struck by the inevitable: soon she will have to leave Laderas and her beloved daughter in order to return to work and thus continue to provide for those she cherishes. Her perpetual efforts and dedication, as well as the sacrifice of her exile, all weigh on her.

Mamita is a short film about self-sacrifice, about the self-denial of an immigrant woman and about the constant repression of the pains that come with such sacrifice.
