- Glass: A Portrait of Philip in Twelve Parts. Fresh from his success with No Reservations Academy Award Nominated director Scott Hicks creates a multilayered film about iconic composer Philip Glass. By filming Glass over the course of two years, Hicks gained unprecedented access to his life (with some astonishing revelations) and manages to present a portrait of who Philip Glass is today and an exploration of his creative process and its influences: his family and friends; his professional relationships with other masters including Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese and Chuck Close; his spiritual life and his astounding work ethic. Music aficionados and fans of Hicks’s prior film Shine will be particularly enticed to see and hear how he has blended the art of film and the art of music in this very powerful film rich with Glass’s own compositions which spellbind throughout.
