- Synopsis
- As I continue to work on this, I confirm that such a transition has no clear end and serves solely as an impetus in itself. For the first time, I set to make a film based on a more preconceived structure, a certain kind of dramatic arc and its corresponding characterological subjects. This is a challenge that I find aesthetically fertile and one that I wish does not compromise the vitality and spontaneity of ‘non-fiction’ while partaking in the thrusts of storytelling.
  From a formal point of view, I’m very much looking forward to expanding the canvas I have been working on my recent films Kékszakállú and Introduzione all’Oscuro, which have been shot with the use of a single normal (40mm) lens, only available light with close to none camera movement, and direct sound only. I feel now very urged to include camera movements and the use of color in a more deliberate way. Our sound recording strategies are also transforming. I’m interested in portraing a more 20th century Vienna and in focusing on night scenes. Portuguese fellow and master Rui Poças, will continue to light and lead our tiny crew.
  Along the same route I have been exploring thus far, I believe we will continue to find the film as we plunge into it. The Yuxtaposition of Seemingly disconnected materials will find an organic and cohesive way. Our narrative is yet to be discovered. In the context of the end of an era, a woman in her 40’s arrives to Vienna and makes a strong impact in the sentimental lives of a few young women. Original autobiographical and fictional gags will inject humor into a cinematic thread, that as in all my previous work, will be the function of an unscripted, custom tailored piece.
