    MY SCREENING ROOM

TIP: Highlight and showcase your films in the Screening Room! Maintain total control on your films and manage your viewing rights!

How secure is the Screening Room?

The Cinando Screening Room is an online, dedicated and secure place to upload, screen and share your films and is completey free. Access to Cinando is restricted to film industry professionals. The Cinando team regularly updates the Cinando database and pays particular attention to the eligibility criteria of its members. When you choose to screen a film on Cinando, you keep total control of it. You are able to manage your viewing rights and therefore choose who will be able to watch your films among the Cinando community: distributors, sales agents, festivals, all Cinando members, or access by request only.

You can also restrict the access to more precise targets:

    - a geotarget restricts access to companies based in the territories where your film has not already been sold

    - a personal target allows you to grant access to your film to a customized list of companies

You will also be able to hide your film at any time if necessary and to send personal invitations, even to non-Cinando members.

But that's not all! To make sure this is really secure, each viewer can be tracked. When a film is watched, it is watermarked by the name of the person watching and an ID number is automatically generated by Cinando. Thanks to this system, you can track the viewer(s) and begin to work out deals with interested companies.

How do I upload a film to the online Screening Room?

Here is the step-by-step process to use the Cinando online Screening Room:

    1. Select one of your films (or create it) in My profile Line-up tabs.

Then open the 'upload manager' by clicking on the green button.

         A pop-up window should open.

Choose the "Full movie" tab and follow the instructions.

Please remember that you must upload an image (poster or film still and give basic information about the film (duration, language...) prior to being able to upload the film.

If the box "Select a file" does not appear, you will need to download and install Java, which you can get by clicking here. If you need help with installing Java, view the instructions on their website. If you still encounter problems, you may need to enable Java in your web browser.

Use a digital file of the film, with the proper subtitles (English is recommended).

If you only have a DVD, first you must convert it quick and easy with these instructions.

    Technical requirements:

    - Accepted formats: mp[e]g, avi, vob, mov, mp4 - file size < 5 GB

    - Encoding: resolution 720x480 or better - bitrate > 2MBit/s - 48kHz sound AC-3 / AAC / FLAC / MP2 (> 128 kBit/s)

    - Video Codecs: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC / MJPEG / MPEG-1 / MPEG-2 / QuickTime Graphics

    - Multiplexed files only (audio and video in one file) - no anamorphic material. (file has to be 4:3 or 16:9 originally).

For best encoding results we recommend: .mp(e)g file format with MPEG 2 video codec or H.264/MPEG-4 codec for best quality.

    2. Choose the viewing rights

When uploading, you will have to choose your viewing rights settings.

You will be then able to modify this choice by clicking on "Manage rights and invitations" in the film page.

Choose to whom you grant viewing rights to your film:

Distributors, Sales agents, Festivals: grants access to these categories.   Eligibility of these companies is checked by the Cinando team.

All Cinando members: grants access to all Cinando users.

You can filter these companies by country and restrict access only to countries where the film is available (based on the countries you select as available by updating the film page).

One of my lists: Choose a previously created list of people to whom you would like to grant viewing rights. Note that this option does not automatically send invitations to buyers:  they will see that the film is available but will not receive an automatic notification.

TIP: You have the option to restrict access to Cinando members only, move it to your Library (if you are not selling it) or hide or delete your film entirely from the database. To modify your films visibility, go to Update My Data on the film page, click Update My Data button at the top right. Scroll down to the bottom to easily adjust visibility settings.

NOTE: Even if access is restricted only to Cinando members, a public page will still exist containing limited information, allowing sharing on Facebook for example.

    Further details:

    -         Authorize requests: Select this box to allow users without viewing rights see that you have uploaded a film and so they can request to see it. Otherwise, only users with viewing rights can see that you have uploaded a film. This option provides users with the knowledge that the film exists, while preventing unwanted users from viewing it. All requests are sent to the person indicated in the box labeled "Requests will be sent to..." who can choose to accept or simply ignore the request.

    -         Disable: Select this option to hide your film completely, even from people to whom you have already granted viewing rights.

If you do not select any of the choices above, only people you invite individually to view your film are granted access (means "By invitation only").

Click on the "Select a file" tab just below to select your file or drag & drop it into the box. The process may take a few hours: reduce this window and continue to work, but DO NOT CLOSE IT.

If the upload is stopped for any reason the part of the file already uploaded is saved and the upload will resume from there. Re-open this Upload Manager and select the SAME file again. Once the upload is complete (100%), you can close the window.

The film should be available within the next 24 hours (check its status in the 'Manage your files' tab of the Upload Manager). Now you can modify the film's viewing rights.

Once uploaded, your film will appear in the Screening Room and in your film page. You should be able to modify the viewing rights in the "manage rights and invitations" link (under your full movie player).

    3. Send personalized invitations by email for streaming or an mp4 file to burn to DVD:

In the Manage Rights and Invitations section, in the right block, you can invite Cinando members or send a 24-hour invitation to other people by entering their e-mail addresses. In all cases, your invitee will receive an invitation e-mail, explaining which invitation it is and the process to follow. You can add a private message to this e-mail if needed.

You can choose two different invitations:

    -         For streaming only: the person will receive an email link and the streaming will be available from this moment. For Cinando members, the streaming link does not expire (it is unlimited). For non members, streaming is limited to 24 hours from the moment the video is played. If necessary you can reactivate the link by clicking on the lock icon.

    -         For streaming + downloading an mp4 file: For Streaming, the same rules apply as above. In addition, the mp4 invitation is a paid service that costs 1.20 per invitation. You can add credits in your account section. Please visit the section for more information.

Please note that you can track your invitations in the same section. (For mp4/DVD invitations, a status specifies the process step of your DVD). You are able to delete an invitation if you need to remove it. If an invitation is removed, the person will not be able to watch or download the film anymore and the invitation link will disappear:

    -         Streaming invitation

    -         Streaming + downloadable mp4/DVD to burn :

    o    mp4/DVD encoding

    o    mp4/DVD ready

    o    mp4/DVD error

    o    mp4/DVD downloaded

o    mp4/DVD expired (appears if the mp4/DVD file has not been downloaded within a month)

    Do invitations expire?

The mp4 file will be re-encoded and individually watermarked with the name of the person you are inviting. If you want, add a secret code that only you will be able to forward to your invitee. The DVD will be available approximately 24 hours after you send the invitation. 24 hours after the first download, the link becomes inactive and the downloading button disappears. If the person has not downloaded the DVD within a month, the link becomes inactive. For Cinando members, you can revoke access by deleting a film invitation after any amount of time your prefer.

    What are the viewing reports?

The viewing reports are spreadsheets which gather who watched your film, when and for how long.

You can access these reports in the film page by clicking the "viewing reports" link below the full movie player.

Stay informed of a market's exhibitors lineups, films in screening, festival sections and detailed screening schedules

How do I find information about markets?

To have specific information on markets, you can use our markets section. It appears in each tab "Companies", "People", "Films" within the Advanced search tool. You can select market filters and choose the market you want to browse. Please remember that when you browse a market, you can use other filters on your left at the same time.

If you select a market, in your results will appear all the market companies attending. You can narrow your search on exhibitors.

NOTE: Keep in mind that if you are looking for prior screenings in past festivals, you must clear out the current festival and select None in the Market Filter.

Available features in the People tab market section:

If you select a market, the market attendees will appear in your results.

Available features in the Films tab market section:

    -         You can click on the button "Screening schedule" to access the screening schedule of the market (days, hours and venues of all the market screenings).

You can sort the results by day, time of screening and other filters. Once a screening is selected, you have the opportunity to schedule the screening on your Outlook calendar by clicking on the icon.

    -         Films in screening: you can search for films and select different types of screenings in the market, restrict your search to Market Premiere or Market Debut or restrict your search within a particular festival selection related to the chosen market.

Market Debut: When a film project is introduced (but not screened) at a market for the first time

    My market activity

How can I mention my temp address at a market?

Under the section for the upcoming market, edit the contact details for your company in update mode. You must choose whether the address is an office (delivery of mail and meetings conducted) or only a contact address (delivery of mail only).

How can I be indicated as a market attendee on my profile page?

You are not able to mark it on your own. We are in partnership with main international markets and as we receive attendees' lists, we will update your attendance on Cinando.

What is the market status of a title?

A market status covers the following:

    -         Also available: the title is not showcased during the market but is available for sale.

    -         Line-up: the title is part of the line-up introduced at the market

    -         Screening: the title has a venue screening in the market

    -         Promo-reel screening: the title has a promo-reel screening

    -         Screening at market booth: the title is screened at the booth

    -         Video Library: the title can be watched on specific computers within the market.

    -         Producers Project: the title is selected in the Producers Project section

You can set up and change the market status of a title by going to the film page. Click on "Update my data".

How can I add screening schedule of my market line-up?

Screening schedules are updated by the Cinando team directly. Once we receive the official screening schedules, we will update your film page as necessary.

    What is the market history?

The market history sums up all the markets where the film was introduced. Even if you choose to include a title as part of your market line-up, it will appear in your market history section. You can view the market history in the film page in the section 'Previous markets'. Click on "Full history" to view all previous markets. You cannot manage this section which is automatically filled in based upon information you specified.
